Britt Drafts NAIA Proposal to Congress for Federal Data Intelligence Act

As a trusted expert in technology and data privacy law, Steve Britt, the general counsel for the National Artificial Intelligence Association (NAIA), co-authored a letter to Congress, outlining the case for the American Data Intelligence Act (ADIA). This proposed preemptive federal statute would address both artificial intelligence (AI) and data privacy regulations.

The ADIA is designed to provide clear, consistent policies for businesses while protecting consumers by:

  • Establishing broad data rights
  • Preempting conflicting state laws
  • Creating a liability framework that protects victims of AI discrimination

These guidelines would be implemented to create safety without stifling innovation. The letter was sent to key members of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
